Me encantan porque tienen un sabor suave, como a nuez y casi dulce. Son un poco chiclosas y nutritivas, y se usan mucho en la cocina mexicana. Son semillas muy nutritivas, llenas de fibra, vitaminas, minerales y antioxidantes.<\/p>\n<p>Las pepitas son semillas de diferentes tipos de calabazas. Las encuentras en todo M\u00e9xico, desde puestos callejeros hasta en los supermercados grandes. Se usan en la cocina mexicana desde tiempos ancestrales, y se han usado de much\u00edsimas maneras desde entonces.<\/p>\n<p>Eran muy apreciadas tanto por los Aztecas como por los Mayas, quienes fueron los que empezaron a molerlas como base para diferentes salsas. De hecho, es en la Pen\u00ednsula de Yucat\u00e1n, el hogar de los Mayas, donde hay entre las pastas b\u00e1sicas para sazonar (una es la famosa salsa de achiote), una pasta de pepitas de color claro, que se puede comprar ya preparada en los mercados.<\/p>\n<p>En M\u00e9xico, las pepitas se comen con y sin c\u00e1scara, crudas, tostadas, saladas, fritas y con chile como botanas. Tambi\u00e9n se usan para hacer salsas, moles, sopas y bebidas. Se espolvorean en platillos principales para a\u00f1adirles sabor de forma sutil y un toque crujiente.
