Baja California Sur
Baja California Norte
Baja California is a Mexican state on the Baja California Peninsula, bordering the U.S. state of California. The landscape spans mountains and beaches on the Pacific Ocean and Gulf of California.
The state is best known for its indigenous peoples and cultures. The most numerous and best known are the Zapotecs and the Mixtecs, but there are sixteen that are officially recognized. These cultures have survived better than most others in México due to the state’s rugged and isolating terrain.
Sonora is located in northwest Mexico. The second largest state, it is sparsely populated. Mountainous and arid, the region is sunny almost year–round and has little rainfall.
