Smooth Guacamole recipe from Pati’s Mexican Table Season 8, Episode 4 “Los Mochis, Street Taco Favorites”


  • 2 large avocados, halved, pitted, meat scooped out and chopped
  • 1 tomatillo, husked, rinsed and quartered
  • 1 to 2 jalapeños or serrano chiles, stemmed, coarsely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons coarsely chopped onion
  • 2 tablespoons fresh squeezed lime juice
  • 3/4 teaspoon kosher or sea salt, or more to taste
  • 2 to 3 ice cubes

To Prepare

  • Place all ingredients in the jar of the blender and pulse until completely smooth. You may add a chile at a time to taste for your desired heat level.

    I really enjoy the show, love the food and people you introduce us to. How do I pick out good tomatillo’s? I’ve made this recipe twice, it tastes wonderful. I’m learning the wonderful use of dried peppers from you too!

  2. This holds so well in the refrigerator – it stays bright green and maintains a nice creamy consistency. Right now we have a lot of leftover turkey from the holidays – this sauce is terrific on a turkey sandwich!
